Melbourne Panorama

The task of capturing a panoramic view of Melbourne has been challenging. The vantage point here is Williamstown and the photographic equipment used was a Nikon D800e with a focal length of 200mm@f/8, 8 seconds. So whats challenging about that? Its the 8 second exposure @ 200mm thats what.
The Nikon D800e requires a very sturdy tripod, a cable shutter release, mirror lockup and holding your breath for the duration of the exposure and that is no joke. Only at 200mm all that is amplified and the difficulty of capturing a crystal clear image is very challenging. A slight breeze can cause enough subtle vibration @ 200mm that will spoil the photo and I needed complete calmness for 8 seconds x (4). I had to succesfully perform 4 perfect exposures to be able to stitch together this panorama that required absoulute perfection with each shutter release. I scrapped many shots to get the right sequence of 4 super sharp images. I cannot afford anything less than perfect exposures. This Melbourne panoramic view of the city bathed in a warm glow of orchid light has been printed on a metallic pearl 255gsm professional quality archival photo paper using Epson Ultrachrome HDR ink and the results are just beautiful. This panoramic print measures 43cm x 160cm and is available to purchase framed.

LARGE Panoramic framed prints now available 87cm x 253cm wide.

I have been working towards providing large scale panoramic prints that required superb detail in the print along with a frame capable of supporting the width. These selected prints measure 870mm x 2530mm framed and ready to hang. The construction uses a 40mm box timber frame with a rigid 6mm backing board that is fastened to the outside of the frame. Glass has been replaced with Perspex to reduce the overall weight. Such large prints will require custom hanging and currently available only in local Melbourne areas as transportation adds to the total cost. These prints although very large are been offered at a very reasonable and affordable price of $1,370.00 each excludes delivery and hanging.
